How Trees Interact with Us

The Healing Power of Tree
Several Japanese studies have shown that spending time in forests can have significant benefits for human health, helping reduce the risk of conditions such as heart disease, diabetes, and even cancer.
These benefits are largely linked to natural airborne compounds released by trees to protect themselves from insects. When inhaled, these compounds enter our bloodstream and act like a natural form of medicine. Japan was the first country to provide scientific evidence demonstrating the health impacts of forest therapy.

Healing Benefits of Tree Contact
Research suggests that physical contact with trees, such as hugging, may have measurable physiological and psychological effects. When contact lasts for more than approximately 20 seconds, it may promote the release of oxytocin, a hormone associated with increased feelings of happiness, trust, and emotional bonding.
Further studies indicate that sustained interaction with trees for around 15 minutes or longer can help reduce stress levels, promote relaxation, and alleviate mental tension. These findings suggest that direct contact with trees may have potential benefits in supporting stress relief and emotional regulation.

Life as a Growing Tree
Human life is compared to a tree that continuously grows and evolves. The key is to find one’s own “Dao–Fa–Shu–Qi” system (principles → methods → tools → outcomes), which guides personal development from foundation to achievement.
